THE final touches are being made to this year's Radcliffe Carnival.

Programmes are now on sale for the weekend of events at the Red Bank playing fields, in Unsworth Street, on June 5 and 6.

The procession of floats, along with the parade, will take place on the Saturday between 2pm and 4pm, with the parade of queens from 4.30pm. Judging of the floats will take place between 1pm and 1.30pm.

The parade will start from the fields at Unsworth Street, and follow the route of Lowe Street, Ainsworth Road, Water Street, Blackburn Street, Pilkington Way, Stand Lane, Church Street, Rectory Lane, Spring Lane, Water Street and back to Unsworth Street. The roads will be closed from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

The queen for 2004, Sarah-Elizabeth Wiles, will take part in the parade, along with the other members of the Radcliffe royalty.

On the Sunday there will be a car boot sale from 10am and morris dancing from 11am.

Silcocks fair will also run throughout the weekend, between 11am and 10pm on Saturday, and from 11am to 6pm on Sunday.

The closing date for entries for the parade is June 4 when forms need to be with the parade organiser who can be contacted on 797 4475.
