Leigh Centurions 43 Halifax 25 by Mike Hulme: THE classic sporting cliche of a game of two halves was never more evident than at Hilton Park on Sunday.

For the opening 40 minutes the Centurions unbeaten home record was in jeopardy as struggling Halifax took full advantage of Leigh's recent dip in form.

After 37 minutes their simple yet effective style had carved out a 19-0 lead and Leigh were in deep trouble.

But when winger Steve Maden squeezed in at the corner and Neil Turley thumped over a touchline conversion right on the bell, Leigh were transformed.

All the old swagger and confidence returned in the second half and Halifax were blown out of the water as Leigh scored six tries to one as half-backs John Duffy and Tommy Martyn took a grip on the game.

Turley's footwork brought him a try; Duffy and on loan Ben Cooper set up another for Rob Smyth and sub Willie Swann plunged in to give Leigh the lead for the first time.

They never really looked back after that and added further tries from Martyn, Duffy and Ian Knott, with Turley taking his goals tally to seven and Martyn chipping in with a field goal.

Simon Grix grabbed a third Halifax try late on with Jon Roper converting.
