A 94-YEAR-OLD man was targeted by a man who conned his way into his home.

The pensioner was today said to be very distressed by incident in which several hundred pounds were stolen.

Police said the offender approached the elderly man outside his house in Thorpe Street, Padiham, on Sunday afternoon. The offender then talked his way into the victim's house, distracted him and stole a large amount of cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the old man talking to the thief in the street at around 4.35pm.

The offender is described as a white male, in his 30s, around 5ft 10ins and of slim build. He was said to have dark, short hair and a fresh complexion, and he was wearing jeans and a red top.

The thief is also believed to have been driving at red, medium-sized car.
