ORGANISERS of a lifesaver contest want the people of East Lancashire to blow their own trumpets.
The closing date for the the Vodafone Daily Express Lifesavers Awards competition is approaching yet there have been very few nominations from people in the area.
The awards are open to anyone who has helped save a life in the past two years - either members of the public or emergency services.
Last year Robert Ashworth, Hannah Sprowell and Licia Snape, from Burnley, won one of the 10 awards for rescuing seven-year-old Sam Leverett from a pack of seven dogs who had attacked him.
Robert was also a winner in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Pride of East Lancashire Awards last year. He said: "I certainly didn't think of myself as a hero."
The closing date is June 25 and nominations can be made through www.vodafone.co.uk/lifesavers or by calling 0870 902 3333.
