PUSHING a full supermarket trolley with wonky wheels is already hard enough work - but soon it could offer a real workout.
Thanks to Tesco, shoppers in Hill Street, Blackburn, may soon be able to get fit simply by doing their weekly shop.
The "Trim Trolley" has already been introduced to the Tesco store in Kensington, London, and the supermarket chain hopes to install them in all major branches in the future.
The trolley, designed by a German company Wanzl, allows shoppers to choose from 10 resistance levels to increase the workout.
Pushing the trolley at Level Seven would allow the average person to burn around 280 calories, which is the same as a 20-minute swim.
It also shows the shopper's heart-rate through sensors on the bar used to push the trolley and will provide a report on calories burned during the shop.
The Chorley, Clitheroe and Preston Fulwood branches of Tesco could also introduce the trolleys soon.
