A BLACKBURN youngster has fought off national competition to land first prize in a prestigious poster contest.
Eleanor Scott, 11, a pupil at Westholme School, Blackburn, won first prize in a National Food Safety Week schools poster competition, organised by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF).
Eleanor won the eight-12 age group, beating off entries from more than 1,000 schools. She travelled to the House of Commons on Monday to be presented her prizes by FDF deputy president Gavin Neath at the launch of National Food Safety Week.
This year's focus for National Food Safety Week was how to avoid spreading germs, and judges rated Eleanor's eye-catching poster as the best.
Eleanor won tickets for the London Aquarium and a trip on the London Eye as well as £100 in vouchers. The school will receive £500 to spend on food technology equipment.
