I HAVE seen a lot of letters and stories in this newspaper about litter lately and most right-minded people would obviously agree it's really awful having to walk out on the streets covered in trash.

But my question to everyone is, why aren't we doing anything about it?

If you see one of these filthy, absent-minded idiots dropping litter, challenge them, tell them to pick it up!

If you are walking with your child who does not know better and they drop litter, tell them to pick it up, and don't leave it to a stranger like I had to the other day.

Incidentally, I received a look of disgust from the mother after I told the child he'd dropped litter and there was a bin round the corner.

And they aren't we proud of our streets any more? If you're coming home and there is litter outside your house, its not going to kill you to pick up a can or a crisp packet and put it in your own bin.

We need to let these dirty people know that their behaviour is unacceptable, and do what we can to keep our streets clean.

Come on Blackburn, do something about it before we drown in the stuff! I can't be the only one who still has pride in my town, can I?
