A COLNE man is believed to have died from overdosing on prescribed pain killers after suffering bad headaches.
Mohammed Jamil, known as Paul Williams, of Norway House, in Red Lane, had been taking medication for pancreatitis, an inquest heard.
But the 27-year-old, who had been living with a friend in St Mary's Street, Nelson, may have trebled his prescribed dose over four days to ease his headaches.
An inquest into his death heard the level of codeine in his blood caused hypothermia, causing him to fall into a coma. His friend, Paul Cunliffe, told the inquest he found him unconscious in bed when he came home from work in November last year.
Attempts by Mr Cunliffe and paramedics to revive him failed.
Deputy coroner for East Lancashire, Mark Williams, recorded a verdict of accidental death.
