A 1,000-STRONG group of Cub Scouts descended on Bowley Scout camp in Great Harwood to enjoy adventure activities and a special open day.

Organisers were delighted to see members of the Asian community joining in.

The 47-acre site boasts a climbing tower, archery and shooting facilities which were admired by local dignitaries and Lord Patel, president of the East Lancashire Scouts.

Secretary Simon Nanson said: "We had a wonderful day and were delighted to see the Islamic community finally joining in the scouting movement, which is relatively unknown in their culture."
