A MAN was threatened with a baseball bat and had his wallet and £130 cash stolen while walking through an alleyway in Nelson.

The victim, who police said was in his early 20s, was walking through an alleyway at the rear of Beech Street when he was approached from behind by a man who asked him the time. He then produced a small baseball bat and told him to hand over his wallet before taking it and walking off in the direction of Leeds Road.

The robber is described as being white, in his early 20s and about 5ft 7in. He was quietly spoken and wore a white hooded top with the letters AP, a burgundy scarf covering his face, jeans and brown boots.
