TWO Clitheroe teenagers went on a drunken wrecking spree after a night out.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Jason Paul Green and David Michael Roberts caused more than £900 worth of damage.

Green, 18, of Radcliffe Street, pleaded guilty to damaging a car wing mirror belonging to Norman Turner and one belonging to Janet Gallagher.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £108 compensation and £55 costs.

Roberts, 19, of Standen Road, pleaded guilty to damaging a car light cluster belonging to Justine Collins and a £788 shop window at Clitheroe Car Components belonging to Kevin Riley.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £859 compensation and £55 costs.

Wendy Chappell, prosecuting, said a man making his way home at about 10.30 pm saw the two teenagers standing at the junction of Fort Street and Woone Lane and then heard a loud bang. The two ran off and the witness followed as he rang the police.

He saw one of them kick out at a car and then heard another loud bang an they again ran off. Mrs Chappell said that when the police arrested the defendants they were clearly drunk.

Green told the court he was very sorry and said it had been "stupid." Roberts also apologised and said he had drunk too much.
