A 21-YEAR-OLD man drove off after ploughing into the back of a car waiting at traffic lights on Barbara Castle Way in Blackburn, a court was told.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Fiaz Aslam had been allowed to drive his brother's car after assuring him he was insured for it.

But following the collision, in which the other car, a £4,500 Rover, was written-off, it was revealed Aslam was not insured.

Aslam, of Leamington Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to failing to stop and failing to report an accident and using a car without insurance. He was remanded on bail until July 15 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
