I FEEL I must reply to your comments regarding the wisdom of the Conservatives' desire for power.

We have continually lobbied the ruling Labour group over the years to spend money on basic facilities in our wards.

While we have watched huge sums of money spent in some areas of Blackburn, little or none has been spent in areas such as Livesey and Pleasington, despite large amounts of council tax collected from our area.

We have some of the worst maintained roads, as anyone will know who has driven through Pleasington or driven up Brokenstones Road.

We look at some of the wonderful playgroups around the borough but Livesey and Pleasington does not have one public swing never mind a public playground, despite numerous requests.

We have a second rate refuse collection. The number of letters to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph regarding fortnightly collections give testimony to this.

This borough has some fantastic facilities in its leisure centres, but once again areas such as Livesey and Pleasington have none.

I could write a book regarding Labour's neglect of many areas of Blackburn and Darwen.

It is time that all areas of Blackburn and Darwen had their share of what are regarded as basic services in some areas of Blackburn.

So why should the Conservatives be worried at what he Labour group have to say?

To quote Sir Bill Taylor, you reap what you sow.
