A THIEF who stole a £29.99 camera from Boots tried to put it back on the shelf when taken back into the store.
Burnley Magistrates heard how Andrew Hayes, 26, needed help and the bench agreed. The defendant, of Creswick Avenue, Burnley, admitted theft and failing to surrender.
The justices gave him a 12-month community rehabilitation order.
Mark Williams, defending, said Hayes did not have good health and was in and out of hospital.
He had physical and mental health problems, his girlfriend had diffculties and so did their child.
The solicitor went on: "The whole unit is in dire need of help and guidance."
