A REGAL affair awaited parishioners of St Margaret's Church in Prestwich as they attended the crowning of the new Rose Queen.
Twelve-year-old Ruth Hill, of Hazel Road, Whitefield, took over the title from retiring Queen Hannah Ogden (14). Ruth, a pupil at Bury CE High School, was crowned by a long-standing member of St Margaret's, Mrs Joan Priest, who has been involved in past Rose Queen ceremonies.
The service was also attended by visiting queens and attendants from sister church, St George's, in Simister.
