I DON'T know who Vivienne Walker is (I hope they feel ashamed, Letters, June 25) but I feel I owe her an apology.
I should also apologise to my niece and my sister who trusts me to take care of her daughter. The safety of a child is, of course, the most important thing of all and I do feel incredibly ashamed and embarrassed at neglecting my duty in allowing my niece to lean out of the car window in the way described by Ms Walker in her letter.
I would also like to apologise to the nursery mentioned. My niece does not attend there and so I am sorry for any published comments which may have unfairly implicated them.
Thank you Vivienne for your harsh -- but true -- words.
SALLY HARPER,
Radcliffe.
