IT is one success after another for 15-year-old singing sensation Soraya Mafi.
Not only has the Bury Grammar School pupil won the final of a national singing competition, she is now due to jet off to Rome to perform at St Peter's with her school choir.
The 40 members of the Bury Grammar Girls School choir will fly to Rome this Thursday (July 8) and are due to perform in several venues, including Sunday mass at the Vatican.
It is one of many achievements for Soraya, who is also a member of the Halle Youth Choir and Youth Choir of Great Britain.
The 15-year-old won a place in the Association of English Speakers and Singers final, at the Royal Academy, London, after being chosen as the north west representative at the Blackburn Music Festival.
The youngster competed against eight regional finalists to take away the grand prize of £750, which will go towards a music bursary at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School, in Manchester. She will attend the school every Saturday for singing and piano lessons.
Soraya, from Haslingden, has just completed her GCSEs and is due to start at Holy Cross College this September.
Her mother, Helena Mafi, said: "Soraya has done extremely well and is very excited about singing at St Peter's. The choir at Bury Grammar is fantastic and take the girls on wonderful trips."
