BURNLEY Football Club's youth policy has gathered more momentum following the signings of Irish duo Martin Reilly and Chris McCann.

The apprentices, both from Irish boys' club Home Farm, join Mark Crossley, Cayne Hanley, Nicky Platt and Rob Henry on Terry Pashley's rosta for next season.

Reilly hails from Cavan and is a left sided defender, who is likely to replace Paul Scott in the Youth squad following his promotion to the professional ranks.

McCann, from Meath, plays in a central midfield berth and is no stranger to Turf Moor following a session training with the Clarets earlier this year.

Both players received a double boost on signing terms with Burnley, after learning they had been put on stand-by for the Republic Of Ireland Under 17 squad.

The last remaining apprentice to sign in at Turf Moor is Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty, who club officials hope will arrive in the next seven days.
