A MAN was subjected to an hour-long ordeal during a visit to a friend's home in Accrington.

Lee Grosvenor became the victim of violence, was searched and several hundred pounds withdrawn from his bank account after a bank card was seized from him.

Two youths linked to the events through the use of the bank card, were sentenced to six months detention and training.

The 17-year-olds, who cannot be named due to their ages - one from Blackburn and the other from Rawtenstall - had both admitted theft of money.

An older man who carried out the robbery is due to be sentenced next month. Preston Crown Court heard that the events dated from December 29 last year.

Mr Grosvenor, 33, was at a friend's address in Empress Street, Accrington.

Wei Lau, prosecuting, said the two defendants and an older man also went to the house. The older man became violent towards Mr Grosvenor by punching him.

The man was searched and his wallet and mobile phone taken out. The older man told the defendants to go and use a bank card at a cash point.

It later turned out that five cash withdrawals totalling £310 had been made from Mr Grosvenor's account.
