A WOMAN fled from a man's home wearing only her boots after being raped twice, a court was told.

Geoffrey Jones, of Milton Close, Atherton, picked up the 30-year-old prostitute in Shiffnall Street, Bolton, at 11.20pm on February 16 and she agreed to go back to his home for a couple of hours for £40, a jury heard.

She believed he was a pleasant man and had no concerns and he drove her to his home in his Mini Metro, said Miss Vanessa Thomson, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court, yesterday.

Once there he gave her some biscuits and a soft drink and he asked her if she wanted the money first and she said she did. He called her into the lounge and she saw pieces of paper with coins piled up on the coffee table.

"Jones then grabbed hold of her by the hair and held a black-handled kitchen knife to her throat," claimed Miss Thomson.

"He told her not to scream or he would cut her and said he was in charge. She was very frightened. She tried to grapple with the knife and cut her hand."

He took her to his bedroom and threatened her with the knife and ordered her to strip, which she did, but left on her boots as she had money in them, Miss Thompson said.

Jones allegedly raped the prostitute twice, despite her protests.

She told him she wanted to leave, but he said she was going nowhere, the court was told.

She then asked for permission to go to the bathroom and managed to unlock the front door and run out of the house, wearing nothing but her boots, said Miss Thomson.

The prostitute fled to a neighbour's home and the couple there, who were just about to go to bed, let her in and, after giving her a dressing gown, called the police.

When officers arrived, 43-year-old Jones was out in the street near a telephone kiosk and he said he had been trying to contact them, "because he had had some female in his house who was now crying rape and that they should know about it".

When interviewed, Jones said the woman asked him to take her to Wigan and, as payment, would have sex with him. He said he had sex with her with her consent. She then demanded money and was reneging on their agreement.

Jones has pleaded not guilty to two offences of rape and false imprisonment.
