AFTER winning the toss and electing to bat, Norden lost two early wickets for 29 runs, as Seedle dismissed Carroll for eight and Shah claimed the wicket of Alex Tattersall for nine.

Stu Fern and the formidable Asif Mujtaba then built a solid platform for the Norden innings to progress from, adding 74 for the third wicket.

Chris Holt was the bowler with the eventual breakthrough as he clean-bowled Fern for 32.

At this point the visitors were on 103-3 with over 22 overs remaining, and dangerman Mujtaba still at the crease. But in the very next over he played one shot too many and was brilliantly caught at long-on by a one handed diving Jack Ritchie catch, off Shah's bowling for 45.

With Mujtaba back in the shed the Norden innings collapsed like a deck of cards, thanks not only to the efforts of Eddie Shah, but to the two youngsters in the side, Holt and Ritchie who both bowled superbly well, claiming a further one and three wickets respectively.

Shannon Mascarenhas was the only Norden player to have any response to a spirited Stand comeback as he made 22 before the visitors were bowled out for 148.

The last seven wickets had been lost for 45 runs, with Eddie Shah again proving why he's the best amateur bowler in the league, claiming 4-36 from 23 overs. Ritchie claimed 3-45 and Holt 2-19.

In reply Stand got off to a slow start and lost Yuill and Wright early on, both wickets falling with the score on 18, as Mascarenhas made the breakthroughs.

Craig Fergusson and John Seedle added a third wicket partnership of 45 to progress to 63, before Mujtaba bowled Seedle for 23.

Once Fergusson, the main stay of the Stand innings, was caught by Holmes off Mascarenhas having made 32, Stand's reply fell apart.

The last seven wickets produced just 19 runs in the space of 10 overs, as the home side were dismissed for 82, with Mascarenhas finishing with season-best figures of 7-39.
