A MUM whose daughter was abused by chatroom predator Charles Monaghan has slammed the paedophile after it emerged he asked a judge for leniency.

Monaghan, jailed last month for three years and four months, returned to Burnley Crown Court to appeal for help getting his life back once he is released from prison.

But the Blackburn mum, whose daughter was one of Monaghan's five victims aged between 13 and 15, today said he should not be given favours because he had wrecked her child's life.

Monaghan was appealing against an order preventing him being in the company of children under 16, except his own two children, unless accompanied by an adult aged over 21.

Solicitor Peter Turner told the court that Monaghan, a failed financial adviser, hoped to be reunited with his wife and children at their Fulwood home after his release.

But Mr Turner claimed that the measure would hinder his client's ability to lead a normal life such as if he wanted to take his children swimming or to other public events.

Judge Raymond Bennett changed the condition of the order from "not being in the company of" to "not associating with", but he told Monaghan his interests came second to the protection of children.

The Blackburn mum said it was "rich" for Monaghan to want help after what he had done.

She added: "He is a big danger. He has wrecked my daughter's life.

"We are going to hell and back, we really are.

"I wouldn't have been happy if the order had been removed.

"I was not happy with the sentence anyway -- he should have been given a lot more."

Monaghan had admitted five charges of indecent assault, four of gross indecency and two of unlawful sexual intercourse.

Burnley Crown Court heard last month that Monaghan posed as 'Michelle', the boss of fictional T&M Models agency, and offered girls modelling work. He called at their homes and told them Michelle was in a meeting, the court was told.

Monaghan either took them to hotel rooms at the Stirk House, Gisburn, the Bulls Head, Brownhill, the Swallow Hotel, Samlesbury or to his home, where he was said to have molested them.
