The latest music news and views brought to you by DJ FRITZ.

Asalama alaikakum, sasriyakal, namste, kem cho, jambo and a big hiya to all the Asian Image readers.

Big things happening down here, you've got myself DJ Fritz writing an Asian music column especially for you!

Well all that I can say is ABOUT BLOODY TIME! To all those readers who have not heard of me- well 'Hi', and to all those of you who have heard of me-'Hi' to you too!

Now when you are as old as I am (send all guesses in on a postcard) you'll remember it was hard enough to get into a club, but now you walk into any club or bar in any major city, up and down the country and you are guaranteed to hear Asian tunes blasting out at you and everyone rocking to it.

That's when you know Asian music has come a long way. Artists like Rishi Rich, Punjabi MC, Jay Sean, Juggi D and Raghav have blazed into the mainstream pop music charts in the past year and made the music industry sit up and take notice of us AGAIN.

Yes I say AGAIN because this is not the first time Asian artists have achieved success in the pop music world. Don't forget Apache Indian, Bally Sagoo, Babylon Zoo and Rochdale's very own Kaliphz have all been there before but somehow managed to slip back out.

So is all this 'urban desi beats' (as one commercial music radio station likes to call our music) here to stay or is it just the flavour of the month? Who knows? Lets see what happens in the coming few months, with more releases from the Rishi Rich camp and Raghav.

They can only get bigger and better. With more doors opening for our very own Asian superstars like RDB, B21, Dr Zeus and Stereonation.

OK gotta shoot now, but next month I will be reviewing all the latest releases and talking about breaking into the Asian music industry.
