Tauheedul Islam Girls High School celebrated a highly positive Ofsted inspection into the way it provides education for local girls.

The Inspectorate praised the Blackburn school's mission to 'promote a culture of excellence from within a caring and secure Islamic environment enriched with values of discipline, mutual care and respect, which extends beyond the school into the wider community'.

The Inspection also concluded that the school cultivates an environment where pupils are 'eager to learn', management is 'strongly committed to further improvement' and pupils achieve results 'well above the national averages' at GCSE Level. The school has consistently achieved the third highest GCSE results in Blackburn with Darwen for the past five years.

Kam Kothia, Chair of the School Management Board, said, "This inspection and the recent Key Stage 3 results reflect the schools emphasis on excellence and continuous improvement."

Iqbal Patel, headteacher of Tauheedul School, praised the efforts of the staff, the governors and the wider community who have supported the voluntary school: "This has been a collective effort, borne out of a desire to achieve excellence and develop young girls who are confident to take a leading role in society."

The Inspection also praised the schools close links with the local education authority (LEA) and other institutions of further and higher education.
