A TEENAGE man pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving in which a motorcyclist from Leigh was killed.

Shaun Unsworth, aged 19, of Aneline Street, Chorley, is charged with the manslaughter of 38 year old biker Phillip Taylor, of Alt Lane, following a collision in Wigan.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Monday that Unsworth was driving a Rover Metro car on February 26 this year, and he allegedly collided with Mr Taylor who was on his motorbike on Beech Hill Avenue, Wigan.

Unsworth also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, but he denied charges of failing to stop at the scene and failing to report an accident.

David Hirst, aged 18, of Hilton Avenue, Horwich, has been accused of being a passenger in the car which struck Mr Taylor. He has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking in which death was caused.

Judge John Roberts adjourned the case until Thursday, where both Unsworth and Hirst will be sentenced at 10am.
