I AM writing this letter because I, and others like myself, must be feeling disgusted at the way the pension system is biased against working mums.
I will be 60 in November of this year and have brought up two children and worked all my life.
I was informed recently that my state pension will be £64 per week or 80 per cent. It would appear I have only contributed 31 years of full stamps, it should be 39. For eight years, when my children were very young, I worked part time and paid married woman's stamp.
How many people arriving in this country, not working, being paid child benefit and all the other extras, will be better off than me when they retire? I didn't get state handouts. It's time the workers of this country got a better deal, without us there would be no money in the pot.
Name and address supplied.
