RESIDENTS in the Elms Street area of Whitefield are being warned to be on their guard against bogus callers.
The alert follows a distraction burglary at the home of an 83-year-old woman who had her purse stolen by a man who tricked his way into her home at 2.40pm on Sunday (Aug 8).
The victim was was approached by a male who is described as white, in his late 20s, 5ft 6ins tall, slim and wearing black trousers and a long-sleeved blue t-shirt.
He claimed his car had broken down and had no money.
