AN apprenticeship scheme for training cotton workers was announced, sponsored by the Cotton Manufacturer's Association and others in the industry. Youths entering the industry at 16 from school would be fully trained by the age of 21.
Pupils could attended prescribed courses at evening classes as well as practical learning to enter for a career in cotton manufacture.
