LIKE any proud father on his daughter's wedding day, Barry Chaytow will reminisce about her tender childhood years.

But when he accompanies her in the wedding car next September, Barry will be transported back to the very day he took Victoria home as a new-born baby.

For the 1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud Victoria has chosen for her big day is the exact same car Barry drove from the hospital 23 years ago.

Barry, who is chairman of Oldham Athletic Football Club, used to own the vintage car from 1976 to 1987 when it was originally white instead of its current two tone silver.

By sheer coincidence Victoria (23), of Whitefield, and her fiance Richard Ableson, chose the beautiful vehicle for their wedding at Prestwich Hebrew Congregation.

Totally unaware of the family connection, Victoria and Richard found the classic Rolls Royce on a website belonging to Vintage Wedding Cars, in Salford.

They only discovered the car's history when they were sent a brochure and Barry recognised the number plate 3431 TJ.

Victoria, who is managing director of a schoolwear company, said: "My father couldn't believe it was his old car. As far as he knew, it could have been anywhere in the world since he sold it. I couldn't pick any other car now, and I wouldn't change it for the world."

Ken Unsworth, general manager of Vintage Wedding Cars, said: "We have more than 40 cars, so it is impossible to calculate the odds of something like this happening. It is an absolutely amazing coincidence for a wedding but it certainly helps give it a fairytale ending."
