AS a life-long Bolton Wanderers supporter I once asked my father, himself an avid fan during the "glory days" who was the best player he had ever seen.
I expected a reply of Nat Lofthouse or Willie Moir.
Instead, (without hesitation I might add) he said, "Tom Finney without a shadow of a doubt!"
Now, not having the pleasure (or displeasure if playing against us!) of seeing the great man I asked him why. "Because he could do everything and do it a thousand times better than anyone else," was his reply.
I could see the enthusiasm in his eyes when he said this.
So I am really pleased to hear about the statue put up in honour of the great man.
(and that's from a biased Bolton fan!)
Well done Sir Tom!
