A NEW washing machine, a Volkswagen golf and a family trip to Blackpool!

For most of us this sounds like a modest shopping list for person who's just won more than £20.1m on the UK Lottery.

But this is exactly what Iris Jeffrey, 58, of Woodvale, Belfast, intends to fork-out on after scooping the jackpot with her favourite combination - 06, 27, 33, 38, 45 and 47- on July 14.

Amazingly the former home help-turned-housewife unknowingly left her £20,100, 472 winning ticket in a cupboard for almost four weeks losing out on £2,200 a week in interest.

She only decided to check her ticket after listening to an appeal by Lotto organisers - Camelot - for the mystery Northern Ireland winner to come forward.

Reliving the moment she had her status as one of Britain's biggest Lotto winners confirmed Iris said: "Oh, I've won, That's nice." Then celebrated with a glass of milk!

Now - despite looking forward to the family trip to the Golden Mile - Iris's family want to add a more important item to her shopping list... treatment for her life-threatening throat cancer condition.

Daughters Wendy, 32, and Karen, 28, have helped to support their mum's battle through six weeks of a nine-week course of chemotherapy.

Wendy said: "With all the money she has now, we can go anywhere in the world to get the very best treatment that money can buy.

"Our first thought was not about buying big houses or flashy cars. It was to see if anything could be done to help our mother.

"It is more important to have her alive and well than having all this cash.

"That was the first priority when we heard Mum had got the six numbers. It was just to see if there was any further treatment available. We will be looking into that to see if there's anything else we can do to try to get a more speedy recovery for her.

"This has made life a lot easier for her due to her medical condition."

Husband Robert, 62, said: "Even when she was told that she was suffering from cancer, she just got on with her life.

"What is winning the lottery compared to being told something like that?

"She has been very, very ill for some time and the chemo treatment is very tiring so if the Lottery money helps to make life a bit easier for her, that is the most important thing."
