ACCRINGTON Stanley weren't the only club to be threatened by a summer goalkeeper crisis.

John Coleman's battle to find a number one ended when Jon Kennedy re-signed for the Reds last week, while former Barnsley stopper Danny Alcock was confirmed as his understudy following a successful trial.

But tomorrow's opponents Burton Albion were thrown into disarray themselves when Matt Duke was snapped up by Coca Cola League One side Hull City.

The Brewers took Kennedy on trial, but since the former Sunderland keeper returned to the Interlink Express Stadium, they have struggled to fill the void.

Boss Nigel Clough was hoping to have signed a new number one in time for tomorrow's game. But Burton may have to rely on goalkeeping coach Martin Taylor in the short term.

The 37-year-old former Derby stopper could start tomorrow after being given a vote of confidence by boss Clough.

"Martin has done superbly and we'd have no qualms about playing him in the Conference," he said.

Meanwhile, Clough's summer capture, former Norwich and Manchester United front man Mark Robins, has been ruled out for two months.
