LAST week we reported how the exceptional low level of Island Lodge was causing concern.
Over the last seven days remedial action has taken place to plug the holes at the base of the concrete wall caused by erosion on the streamside.
On Tuesday evening the water level had risen nine inches and there was no evidence of a leak behind peg 22 into the stream.
Also last Wednesday, the club successfully removed 60 to 70 pike from Cromptons Lodge by means of electrofishing, the fish being transferred to the south of England.
On Sunday the club fished the September Cup at Cromptons and there were better results with roach and skimmers being caught.
Top weight fell to Ray Booth (3-4-4), second was Steve Madden (2-15-4), third Roger Lightbown (2-8-8), fourth Dave Waggler (2-5-0) and fifth Wally Wroe (1-7-0).
Several local anglers also travelled to Brighouse to compete in the Calder Open.
Chris Hogan came second in his section, despite arriving at his peg an hour late, with a quality net of roach (9-2-0).
This weekend the Calder Championship will also be held at Brighouse.
In the Hebden Bridge Golden Peg, fished on the Rochdale Canal at Stubbins Wharfe, Dave Browning had top weight of all roach (6-4-0).
In second place was P. Cryer (Profish UK) with 5-13-0 and third was Lennie Fosdyke (Profish UK) with 5-5-0.
Meanwhile, in the Todmorden AS Open, also on the Rochdale Canal (sewage works length), top weight fell to Trevor James (Rochdale GTI) with 7-9-0, second was Graham Smith (Profish UK) with 6-4-0 and P. Cryer (Profish UK) was third with 4-12-0.
