NEWMAN COLLEGE 1, BURY AMATEURS 2: BURY were on their travels for the third consecutive game and secured another three points in Preston.

During a superb first half hour they played some fantastic football and carved their opponents open at will.

Pietro Carinci and Pete Hickford looked strong down the left and they linked well to supply a cross for Tony Subachus who narrowly missed with a diving header.

But Bury soon opened the scoring after another flowing move, Pete Hickford crossing for Scott Lyndsey to slot home.

The Ammies then grabbed a second soon after, Tony Subachus firing home from 18 yards.

Bury then relaxed and allowed Newman back into the game, a Pete Gibson howler gaving Newman hope, but Bury remained calm and took all three points.
