STAND looked to bid farewell to the CLL in style on Sunday when they entertained former champions Rochdale at Hamilton Road.

They won the toss and elected to bat, but it proved to be an innings to forget as they struggled to 38-8 by the half way stage.

After a rain interruption Dave Wright and Carl Sutcliffe set about salvaging things and produced a 45-run partnership for the 9th wicket, before Wright was bowled for 18.

Sutcliffe was joined by Ritchie and a further 19 runs were added to make a final total of 102.

Sutcliffe finished unbeaten on 39 from 42 balls, a knock which included two fours and three sixes.

Rochdale bowler Neil Avery finished with 4-45 (4-14 at one stage) and Henderson 5-20.

After a further rain delay the Rochdale reply got underway and Stand's breakthrough arrived in the 11th over when Cryer was bowled by Ritchie for 13.

This brought sub pro Paul Green to the crease and he, along with a few more edges from Brierley's bat, managed to take the game away from Stand, adding 53 runs for the second wicket, before Seedle removed Brierley for 32.

Green then started to stamp his authority on the game as he hit the ball to all parts of the ground in his knock of 34 (including two fours and two sixes).

He became Seedle's second wicket of the afternoon when he was trapped lbw by the Stand paid man, with the score on 99-3.

With four runs required for victory Rochdale then lost another wicket as Seedle bowled Ayres for two.

It was left to Henderson to hit the winning run as Rochdale reached their target with six wickets and 20 overs remaining.

Seedle finished with 3-30, as Stand's 11-year Central Lancashire League allegiance came to an end.

The previous day's trip to Heywood saw Stand bat first. After the loss of two early wickets the innings was rescued by a third wicket partnership of 82 between Dave Baldwin (25) and Seedle (57), whose knock included eight fours and one six off 90 balls.

The third wicket went down in the 37th over with the score on 91 as Baldwin was caught off the bowling of Kaye.

In the remaining 13 overs, Stand managed to progress to 127-9 with Carl Sutcliffe (11) and Lee Chadwick (10) the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

Heywood's sub pro Ruvin Peiris was the pick of the home side attack, claiming 4-19.

In reply Peiris also starred with the bat, blasting 82 off 64 balls, including 16 boundaries.

Heywood did lose a wicket with the score on 30, as Chris Holt captured Mike Arnold caught behind for 13.

But with the returning Bobby Cross hitting 21no, and Peiris unbeaten on 82, the home side cruised to victory inside 21 overs.
