VISITORS to Christ Church in Walmersley will be going "bananas" on Saturday.
For as part of a barbecue, families are being asked to bring along the fruit so a giant banana split can be created.
The family day at the Walmersley Road church is being staged to help publicise the introduction of a new youth fellowship which will be launched at the church next Wednesday.
The barbecue will be held tomorrow between 5pm and 7pm. To enable the organisers to assess the numbers attending, those wishing to go along should telephone 0782 119 4390 to obtain a ticket, costing £2.
From 7pm to 9pm, Christian rock group Rise will perform within the church.
The new youth fellowship, to be held each Wednesday evening except on the first Wednesday of the month, is aimed at youngsters aged 10 and upwards.
Activities will include games, a chill zone and a chat room to allow individual groups to discuss a range of issues. The fellowship is designed to cater for youngsters in the Walmersley area and those attached to the St John the Baptist parish in Birtle.
