SEDGLEY PARK U16...8, WEST PARK SH U16...7: SEDGLEY faced the strong breeze in a scoreless first half, and always looked marginally the better side, despite the size of the visitors' forwards.

In the second half Sedgley were guilty of kicking too often and not well enough, and not using the impressive running skills of wingers James Whittle and Chris McGarry.

Just 13 minutes remained when centre Zac Farber scored the vital try, picking up after number 8 David Smith had been tackled just short.

Sedgley then made a complete mess of receiving the West Park kick-off.

A wild pass and a charged down kick gave the St Helens boys the chance which they took clinically, a converted try giving them a 7-5 lead.

Sedgley's efforts appeared to have been in vain until a last second penalty was coolly converted by stand-off Craig Haycock, after which the final whistle was blown.
