IT was a soggy end to the Northern Premier League season on Saturday with all matches abandoned due to rain with all teams taking four points.

And it was a disappointing season for the three local sides with Preston achieving the best place in eighth spot.

They travelled to lowly Lancaster but only 18 overs were bowled before the rain came with the home side on 49 for 2.

The season was nothing short of disastrous for Leyland who finished bottom without a single win to their name as did their second team in Division Two.

Kendal were the visitors to Fox Lane on Saturday and made a score of 256 for the loss of 5 wickets before declaring. In reply Leyland made 18 for the loss of four wickets before rain brought an end to the game.

Leyland Motors batted first against Barrow at Sandy Lane and were bowled out for 123. Aspinwall was top scorer with 46 and Afsar and Iddon were the only other batsmen to make double figures.

Barrow made 67 for 2 off 17 overs before the game was abandoned. Motors finished fourth from bottom in the table.

In the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Division C match Warton (63/2) beat Gegson Lane (61). All other matches in the first four divisions of the league were abandoned.
