DETECTIVES hunting a sex pest who attacked a woman in a Colne park believe there may have been a witness, it was revealed today.

Police are desperate to talk to a man who they think could help track down the menace.

A 36-year-old woman has been walking in Millennium Green Park, on Monday, September 6, when she was indecently assaulted.

But officers have discovered a man was seen near the area at the time of the attack.

Detectives want to hear from the man who was seen walking in Shaw Street shortly after 8.30pm.

They believe he may have seen or heard something but did not realise what was happening.

He was described as white, in his early 20s, had an average build and wore a cream baseball cap and light tracksuit top, possibly silver or grey, with light trousers.

Detective Inspector Dermott Horrigan, who is leading the inquiry, said: "I am appealing for this man to come forward. It is quite possible that he didn't realise the gravity of what happened.

"It maybe he can provide valuable information regarding the attack or the offender. Even if he thinks he didn't see anything at all, I would like him to contact us."

Anyone with information about the attack should contact Pendle CID on 01282 472645 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
