POLICE have been called into Baxenden to sort out parking problems plaguing residents.

At a public meeting, officers revealed so many cars were being parked in Manchester Road advertised for sale, that concerns had been raised a business was using the area as an unofficial showroom.

Officers have been investigating, passing information to Trading Standards.

PS Bob Eaton, of Accrington police, said: "Over a few months we have had a small number of complaints about the Manchester Road area around the Alma Inn, of cars parked with 'For sale' signs in the windows and telephone numbers to ring.

"The vehicles appear sporadically, rather than being there all the time. It would appear that somebody might be running an illegal business of buying and selling cars and advertising them for sale on the public road.

"This is a trading standards issue and we have passed details on, although there has been no police evidence gained at this stage that it is the same person.

"Inquiries will continue should this problem resurface."
