Burnage 36 Blackpool 8 - BLACKPOOL were brought down to earth after last week's victory in this Lancs one fixture.

Burnage opened the scoring after 10 minutes when their stand off scored a penalty to make the score 3-0.

Soon after they extended their lead to 8 - 0 after an unconverted try.

Blackpool heads dropped as they missed first up tackles. Allowing Burnage to run through them at will.

On 18 minutes Burnage scored again due to bad Blackpool defending, this time the try was converted to take the score to 15 - 0. This was soon followed by a penalty which allowed the home side to increase their lead to 20 - 0. Soon after this score, Blackpool flanker had to leave the field with a blood injury to his left eye. He was replaced by player/coach Paul Dooley. This appeared to give them more stability and a sense of direction.

No sooner had flanker Perks returned and Dooley retired when he was back on again, this time permanently when the other flanker Adam Brookes had to retire from the game with a suspected cracked rib.

On 23 minutes Burnage scored again, a try which went unconverted to take the scores to 23- -0 at half time.

After some harsh words from the coaching staff, Blackpool resumed the second half with what appeared to be a greater sense of purpose. Their defending improved and they managed to string together some attacking moves but were unable to convert this into points.
