PADIHAM are looking to open up a gap at the top of the Division Two table as they turn their attentions to the league.

The Storks, who earned a place in the FA Vase qualifying round with a 2-1 replay win over Poulton Victoria in midweek, entertain Cheadle Town tomorrow.

And with leaders Cammel Laird involved in cup competitions for the next three weeks, Padiham are eager to take advantage and reclaim top spot.

Manager Steve Wilkes said: "We've got three home games on the bounce and if we don't get nine points from those I'll be disappointed. We were pleased to get through our Vase draw, but the league's our bread and butter.

"I think the players are looking forward to this week's game because we want to try to get a bit of daylight between ourselves and Cammel Laird."

Wilkes added that he hoped to make a couple of new signings to strengthen his squad over the weekend.

"We started off well and were winning comfortably, but we've scraped through the last couple of games so I'm looking to make a couple of additions," Wilkes added.
