HAVING admitted his frustration at a season that has so far produced just two wins, along with two defeats and four draws, Boro boss Kevin Glendon was for once glad to see his side emerge with a 1-1 scoreline.

"To have a man sent off so early against Farsley was a body blow, so I thought the lads did exceptionally well to hang on and were the better team for me on the night," he said.

"We showed real resilience and character but our problem at the moment is scoring - we can't.

"The defence took the flak last season when we conceded a shed full of goals, this year it's the lads up front who are not scoring enough.

"The effort and workrate is there but I confronted them about their lack of success in front of the rest of the team and it hit home straight away.

"I don't want to knock the confidence out of them, it was designed to get a response and Phil Denney went out and got a goal.

"I can change tactics until I'm blue in the face but if the players I pick can't do the job you have to look at bringing in new ones that can, and that's what I'm addressing right now. We've played eight games so far I think I've been patient enough.

"I'm trying to organise a deal to get someone in, if possible for Saturday and I might have to pay a fee, which will mean having to let lads go.

"That's why John Foster has gone. He's a smashing lad and he didn't deserve to be messed about, so I told him straight why he was being let go - I need to utilise the money to help bring in someone who can score - it was nothing to do with his playing ability, it was just a case of needs must."
