RAMSBOTTOM Rascals are on a roll -- the club's intermediate league and the junior league squads have won their last seven matches.

Then, in a milestone gala, the senior league team beat their rivals, Tyldesley, for the first time in living memory.

Head coach, Rick Wesolowski, was overjoyed at the latest committee meeting, as the club has also maintained its stranglehold on the Nelf League.

He said he didn't think the Rascals had beaten Tyldesley for ten years and it was a fantastic team effort, with the level of training proving to have made a difference.

The 27-13 triumph has bolstered the Rascals who begin their Speedo league campaign at Horwich next month.

Nelf team manager, John Taylor, was complimented for using as many of the younger swimmers as possible during the season, thus maintaining interest.

On the financial front, there were mixed fortunes. On the positive front, the club has won £5,000 Lottery funding on the condition of certain criteria being met.

Although there are 255 members, not all fees are sent on time and this could start to affect cash flow. Tougher procedures are to be introduced.

Despite these concerns, which can soon be resolved, a decision was taken to purchase new hats for the elite swimmers chosen for the Speedo squad.
