A GROUP of youngsters who dedicated their spare time to tidying up Victoria Estate in Whitefield have been presented with certificates for their efforts.

Four youngsters from the Junior Wardens scheme attended Whitefield and Unsworth area board on Monday evening (Sept 13) and gave a talk about their work.

Each one of the group, Gary Page, Carissa and Cara Quigg, and Uchenna Ubawuchi, stood in front of the committee and audience to tell them of the work they had done since the junior wardens started two years ago.

A display of photographs and articles featured in The Guide also illustrated their work, which included cleaning up alleyways, carrying out a door-to-door survey and litter picks.

Wardens project manager, Steve Morris, said: "They did very well to stand up and speak in front of all the adults. I couldn't have done what they did. I am very proud of them."

Chairman of the area board, Coun Joan Grimshaw presented the four with a framed certificate each, and thanked them for their commitment.

Coun Grimshaw told them: "We are very pleased with what you are doing for the community. You are doing it very quietly and silently and getting on with it."
