A MOTHER-OF-TWO who won't even go up a ladder to clean the windows is to launch herself from 100 feet in the air.
Mrs Lorraine Boswell is terrified of heights but she will take part in a sponsored abseil on Sunday (Sept 19) from the roof of Manchester Town Hall, to raise money for the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).
The 39-year-old housekeeping supervisor will be joined in the feat by four colleagues from the Arora Hotel in Manchester.
Mrs Boswell, of Buckingham Avenue, Whitefield, said: "I don't even like heights. I don't mind flying but I won't go up a ladder at home to clean a window. I think it's worse if it is an open space. My friends and family think I am mad but they will be there to spur me on."
Mrs Boswell thought it would be a good idea to raise money for charity after receiving some information at work about the RNIB.
She has to raise a minimum of £75 and said she and her colleagues are looking forward to the 100 feet abseil.
She added: "I feel better about it because we are all in the same boat. Two others are also afraid of heights, so we will be frightened together."
