LOVERS in search ofa romantic getaway are the latest target for Blackpool Pleasure Beach's Big Blue Hotel.

The award-winning hotel is to include four luxurious penthouse suites in its new Club Wing, a 40-room extension due to open next June.

Juliet balconies will overlook the promenade or the Pleasure Beach and couples will be able to enjoy granite bathrooms, plasma TV screens and what park chiefs call 'the biggest bathrobes you've ever seen.'

Work on the extension, which also includes 12 family rooms and 24 double rooms, is due to begin in November.

Pleasure Beach managing director, Amanda Thompson, said: "People within the resort of Blackpool are looking to change the image of the town for the better and as one of the major attractions within the town, it is vital that we lead by example by creating innovative, contemporary developments, to enhance the experience for our visitors.

"Blackpool is one the verge of new and exciting things and I am proud that we are expanding our hotel group further to benefit future visitors."

Hotel director, John Mawdsley, said: "Since the Big Blue opened we have given our customers outstanding customer service and an experience that has exceeded their expectations.

"We are consistently achieving high occupancy levels and our customer satisfaction surveys are telling us that our visitors enjoy our very high standard of service, so much so that we intend for our new Club Wing to be bigger and better than they have experienced before."

The hotel intends to introduce luxury packages offering guests flowers and champagne on arrival, intimate dinner for two and relaxing massage.
