THE recent implementation of new on street parking charges is yet another example of how this Labour controlled council are determined to drive tourists and shoppers out of Blackpool.

The timing of the implementation of this scheme beggar's belief, it comes at the same time that many roads are closed in the town centre and visiting the town is becoming impossible.

Why on earth couldn't all this work take place outside the tourist season?

Anyone with any common sense realises that the mainstay of Blackpool's economy is tourism.

It is time that the Council planned their schemes and work to fit in with this.

I can't believe that the council have embarked upon this ill thought out scheme without a full consultation with all the traders in the town.

It is quite clear from the reaction from traders and the public alike that this scheme needs to be rethought.

Events locally and nationally over the last few months have demonstrated the Labour Party are determined to damage Blackpool.

We have seen the refusal by this Labour Government to fund the upgrading of the tram system.

It is about time the Labour Party started to promote and build Blackpool up rather than destroy it.
