IT DOES seem that successive Wyre Borough Councils want to close the nice things we have in Cleveleys, pull them down to build on.

When I first came to live here in 1954 they had taken the Cleveleys Hydro down and built some houses with weaving shed roofs which I think is awful.

Also when I moved out, 1962, we had a lovely little theatre called the Queen's where my visitors and myself used to enjoy the shows and in the winter the amateur dramatics used to put on good shows.

When I came back in 1978 it was rusty and neglected, waiting to be pulled down.

I could have wept, also since then they have tried twice at selling Jubilee Gardens to build on there.

But the latest now, which I saw on Saturday, is the closing down of the children's corner by Wyre Borough Council, now that really upset me because my grandchildren and now their children always make for Jubilee Gardens first and then on to Children's Corner, I just can't believe it.

I wouldn't mid if there would do something about those two tram shelters at Cleveleys centre instead of leaving the people standing outside in all weathers, not to mention that eyesore of a railing that has been kept up with plying and tape for ages.

But it seems, a taxi driver told me, the Blackpool Council and the Wyre Borough Council can't agree whose job it is to replace them. There is no doubt in my mind that it should be the Wyre Borough. On the other hand they can build one each.

If anyone is interested in the Jubilee Gardens Bowling Club green I will give you an update. I'm not sure yet if it is going to be a bowling green or an allotment.
