WE WOULD like to thank everyone who took the time to come along to our Cleveleys Park Surgery this weekend.

There were two subjects which members of the public raised over and over again.

The first was juvenile nuisance and vandalism, which is of concern throughout the ward, from the Alston Estate to North Drive Park and Pheasants Wood.

Rest assured, we share your concerns and are working with the Council to tackle this problem.

The second was the proposed closure of 'Kiddies Corner.'

We were immediately struck by the strength of feeling from residents of all ages who oppose this action.

This popular attraction is another intrinsic part of our town.

Like Jubilee Gardens it has, for many years, been a part of what makes Cleveleys 'special' for residents and visitors alike.

Let's underline at this point that we wholeheartedly support, and appreciate the need for the sea defence scheme. We also welcome the long overdue Promenade enhancement.

However, we understand that the intention is to use the 'Kiddies Corner' site as a construction compound for the Sea Defence work.

As the funding for this, and the Promenade Enhancement is not yet in place, any decision to close the funfair must be premature.

Furthermore, to serve notice on the premises without any warning or prior consultation with the Mason family is simply bad practice.

We condemn 'Kiddies Corner' at our peril.

Simply, we have a duty to consult with the public and the business community.

Only then, when we have considered all the available options, should a decision be reached.

Wyre Borough, learn a lesson from Jubilee Gardens.

Let's not repeat the mistakes that were made then.

This time, let's listen!
